This year’s closing session takes the form of an awards celebration, with a bit of glitz, live interviews, videos and more to tell the stories of excellence in emergency nursing. The event is a newly reimagined format for the Closing Session, designed to showcase the best of the best in ENA and emergency nursing as well as spark the enthusiasm of all who attend.

From this year’s 20 Under 40 class to the Lifetime Achievement Award, the celebration highlights ENA’s award recipients, featuring the broad spectrum of backgrounds, experiences, achievements and roles within emergency nursing, ENA and the ENA Foundation.

The Closing Session is always a special event for attendees to gather one last time and end the jam-packed conference week on a high note. The new format came after listening to feedback from last year’s conference, said ENA Senior Director of Creative Strategy and Events Denise Wawrzyniak. For 2024, organizers wanted to do more to recognize award recipients while inspiring and entertaining the entire audience.

“We brainstormed ways to recognize people with a diverse group across our organization,” she said, and the organizers made sure this would not be just “someone on stage talking to you.”

Award recipients will enjoy well-deserved recognition, while other attendees might be cheering for their colleagues, or perhaps they recognize themselves in the stories told, Wawrzyniak said. Maybe they’ll even be inspired to apply for or nominate someone for an award next year.

“You’re going to hear about your colleagues and some of the amazing things they do, and you can see yourself in there,” Wawrzyniak said.
